Architectural concrete for the Jones
Jan 23 2009

Alchemy Construction has finished the foundation and radiantly heated architectural concrete slabs for the Jones family in Blue Lake California.
The perimeter foundation was poured first. Then after structural fill, 2" insulation, vapor barrier, sand and reinforcement were placed, the crew installed the radiant tubing.  A pretty brown color was chosen by the clients for their finished concrete floor color.  We'll be back to install a 97% efficient solar phoenix hot water heater and 6 zone radiant heating system with solar thermal assist once the roof is on.

Organic Ice Cream in Arcata?
Jan 23 2009

Alchemy Construction has finished the remodel of the Old Minor Cottage,  built in 1884.  Across the street from the famous Los Bagels,  a new ice creamery, now called The Arcata Scoop, will be serving organically produced ice cream.  The owners Garret and Nicole are finishing up interior details such as painting and refinishing the floors.  Alchemy is fabricating concrete counters and concrete tables.
The remodel included a new ADA approach and Trex decking,  radiant heating via architectural concrete slabs (a very pritty green) and radiators,  recycled redwood trim,  American Clay natural earth plaster and low voc paints.  This remodel aslo includes a "clean room"  mandated by the dairy board to produce ice cream during business hours.
